A pedestal, a tiny table, or storage for small items. No. 2 is based on the project Show & Tell, in which we worked on how to store and show objects that are valuable to you. The wooden bases can be used separately, alone or in a group, and they can be combined with delicate porcelain containers of different heights, for safe keeping of everyday objects or special treasures.

Part of the exhibition State of Things, Greenhouse, Stockholm Furniture Fair 2013.

Waxandstone was developed for the Look to Norway exhibition in Paris September 2012. The exhibition theme ”Best before” got us thinking about the duration of different materials.

As designers we usually focus on creating objects meant to last a long time, to be sustainable. We thought it would be interesting to work with wax and candles, precisely because of its short lifespan. Rather than being long lasting candles are meant to provide a certain atmosphere and experience. To underline the candles impermanence we also chose to work with stone. Stone is perceived as stable and permanent, it is the opposite of wax when it comes to durability.

The candle does not require a holder or candlestick and can be used on any non-flammable surface. The base allows it to stand on its own while maintaining the slim expression of a chandelier candle. The design refers to traditional candles, but still has an unexpected expression.

We used the stones range of colors when choosing shades and nuances for the candles. This makes the two elements relate to each other despite their differences. With both the candles and the stone plates we worked with simple and clean circular shapes, to underline our focus on the materials and their properties.

Materials:
Wax
Stone: Azul Bahai (Brazilian granite) Norwegian Rose (Norwegian marble)
Cork

BENKT is inspired by traditional Scandinavian kitchen benches, but with an up-to-date feel. The sitting position is upright, and is fitting for social settings and seating by a table. The goal was to facilitate a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

BENKT is about quality and experience of materials, colors and shapes, in a simple and understated manner.

The sofa is made with natural and pure materials, pinewood, leather and Norwegian produced wool textile by Gudbrandsdalen Uldvarefabrik.

Show and Tell are developed for the exhibition "The State of Things" in Oslo, and they are designed based on a given brief consisting of a box full of everyday treasures and trinkets.

We worked with how you can store and show objects that are valuable to you - because they are unique and exclusive, or simply because they mean something special to you.

We were inspired by the marble, and used twisted colored glass inside the handle on the glass bells. This because the marble is a great example of an object that isn´t particularly valuable, but still can be perceived as precious and magical.

Show and Tell are glass bells with different height and dimensions, with pine wood bases. The glass is hand blown by Pål Roland Jansen from Egenart Glassmakerne AS at Bærums Verk.

The bells become independent and freestanding pieces of furniture when they are raised up and carried on the wooden bases. As a result of the different sizes and proportions Show and Tell each have their own distinctive character and personality.

Dimensions:
Small: Ø140mm H750mm
Large: Ø190mm H1050mm

In 2011 günzler.polmar did furniture and interior work for Kunstnernes Hus, which is one of the biggest contemporary art institutions in Norway.
The foundation and gallery is located in a modernist building from 1930, designed by architects Gudolf Blakstad og Herman Munthe-Kaas. Earlier in 2011 the building was named Norways most important public building, because of it´s great architecture.

Our work was connected to the restaurant and bar in the entrance area. Our goal was to make the interior of the big space more connected, to add warmth, and to create an atmosphere that encourage people to use the room in a more laid-back and relaxed manner.

günzler.polmar designed new covering for the bar counters, with a composition of big tiles made of white and gray pigmented plywood. We also designed a wardrobe, a bookshelf on wheels, and bar tables, and chose new sofas and bar stools. It was fantastic to get to work with such an amazing space, and to try to come up with solutions that highlight and underline the existing architecture.

Produced by Bolia

Spotted mirror is a circular cut mirror with a hole, which allows you to hang it on the wooden hook from the set of Spotted wall hooks.

Spotted is inspired by geometry and by a search for simplicity and pureness in both shape and material. The design came out of a desire to simplify a mirror and its functions, reflecting and hanging, to a minimal - to strip it down to the pure essence. The two parts have their own material and their own task - the reflective glass mirror and the sturdy, carrying wooden hook. The circle is suitable for this because of its clear and defined shape.

Spotted mirror is easy to hang up, take down and to move around when needed. The pure and simple design makes these products fit in to many different homes.

Dimensions:
Mirror: Ø480 mm
Hooks: 80 mm Ø 50/60/70 mm
